Challenges 2022

The Lab42 community is dedicated to advancing AI for the benefit of humankind by addressing unsolved problems that cannot be solved with current state-of-the-art neural networks and Deep Learning frameworks. This page showcases the winners and key findings from our programming and writing competitions.

Established in Davos on July 1, 2022, Lab42 launched two challenges that same year, including ARCathon 2022, a programming competition with the goal of breaking the world record in the ARC Challenge. Through ARC, we approach abstract reasoning with algorithms, a key factor for human-level AI. In our second challenge, we depart from the current trend of deep learning in AI and instead asked experts from diverse fields to write an essay on the fundamental principles of intelligence in AI development.

Past Challenges Board

ARCathon 2022

ARCathon is a collaborative programming competition focused on solving the ARC Challenge. The goal was to push the boundaries of current machine learning algorithms and develop AI that can think and reason abstractly. In this first attempt at breaking the world record in ARC, 118 teams from 47 countries registered.

Essay: Intelligence

Lab42's first essay contest asked people from the fields of neuroscience, AI and computer science, philosophy, biology, psychology, and more what principles of intelligence they thought were important to the development of AI. Over 54 essays were submitted from around the world, spanning numerous scientific fields.
